"Chinny Raccoon" (chinnyraccoon)

Somewhere there was an unsold stash of E72s. My dad doesn’t like touch screens, and his previous Asha 210 was starting to have charging issues, so this seemed like the ideal replacement. It’s also a reminder how some aspects of phone design haven’t been an improvement.

I do miss those tiny clicky buttons sometimes.

Very nice I don’t think I’ve owned a Nokia since the 1990s,
Is it still fully functional on the modern telecommunications system or is some of it unusable?

Reminds me of my childhood. My mom ran a business that had he r travelling a l ot so she was on the Palm Treo train long before the term “smartphone” had been coined. I remember being so fascinated by this magical do-anything device

As long as it can do text messages and calls then any added features are a bonus. Only supports up to 3.5g, 4g would’ve been nice due to the good coverage rather than the speed. I’ll probably set up email access an an extra. The camera is a lot better than his old one so that might get a bit of use.
The Platform isn’t that useful if you are looking for 3rd party apps as the store was shut a few years ago. I can’t imagine the 2019 web would be much fun to use, but Opera is still available on it so it might be worth a try.
Until the iPhone 4 came along I had various N series Nokias which were very nice for the time.

M y previous phone was a Nokia Lumia 920. Best phone I've ever owned, and I think I'll go back to a Nokia after my current phone dies. (Assuming Nokia is still in business then).

I miss keyboards on phones. I fight with touch screens a lot.

Reminds me of my Blackberry. Those were the shit before the iPhone came out.

Well it’s not a BlackBerry, there’s no proprietary network so basics should work. Only issue is the Symbian app support because even WhatsApp discontinued support on S60. The built in email and browser should work provided the SSL certs didn’t crap out like my webOS devices.

They are in name. HMD is run by former Nokia employees, but lately they have been dropping the ball big time.

I was thinking along the lines of BlackBerry as the older ones no longer have certain support but still do the basics and some more here and there.

Ive been using a BlackBerry KeyOne for the past two years. Other than a few minor screen detachment issues, it's been pretty solid.

I have fewer problems since I got this Note 8 a couple years ago, since it has a huge screen and all. But I still struggle sometimes.

I almost got one of these back in the pre-iPhone & Android days! But instead I got an HTC S620.

If you mean “basic” phone and text like an old Nokia then sure. Those things require BIS even for basic email and browsing.

Oh, God ye’, the browsing. If I had Internet and a phone signal but didn’t have the BlackBerry support, I wasn’t going anywhere.
Someone taught me a work around but that was years ago.
